Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

Q1 – What is a respite holiday?

A respite holiday offers the chance of a refreshing break for individuals who need respite from their daily lives. Respite usually means a change of location, but why should the respite not be a holiday as well?

Q2 – Who benefits from a respite holiday?

Everyone benefits from a holiday, carers and cared for alike. The holiday may be taken together or we can make it possible for you to go on holiday by yourself. We will not only help with the arrangements, we can also take over your support or the things normally done by your carer.

Q3 – Should the carer have a holiday?

Looking after yourself is important if you are to continue to be a good carer as it can be very exhausting, intensive and draining at times. Carers need that time to recover, refresh themselves and perhaps take a well deserved holiday too.

Q4 – Who will support me?

If you choose to holiday by yourself our fully trained, experienced and CRB checked staff will be there to support you. All the safeguards that are in place in your normal situation are carried over to your holiday, whether you are in accommodation covered by Supporting People or CQC, in independent living or at home. Safeguarding policies and procedures such as Health and Safety, Complaints, Protection from Abuse are aspects which we are completely familiar with and are carried over to our Respite Holidays.

Q5 – What happens in an emergency?

Part of the booking process necessarily requires us to ask for all your contact details including carer, relatives, partners and involved professionals details. At the same time we will ask about your needs and about anybody that we should contact in a crisis. For other emergencies, staff will be on hand and are trained to act appropriately.

Q6 – What kinds of respite holidays are available?

We can arrange respite holidays any where in the world! We tailor make your holiday to create the perfect break. Whether you prefer to holiday alone, in a small or large group, like it to be quiet and relaxing or active and challenging let us know your requirements and we’ll do the rest!

Q7 – Where are we based?

We are based in Bournemouth on the South Coast of England. Bournemouth has a lot to offer the visitor with many attractions all on our doorstep.

Q8 – What is our belief?

Holidays and outings are a normal part of most people’s lives and are perhaps more important to those with individual needs. Travel and new places can be a challenge for some people and they feel they just can’t cope. We believe with the right support you can. We have seen many people who have met the challenge and not only enjoyed the holiday but gained a sense of achievement and felt they had taken another step towards greater independence.

Q9 – How do I get further information?

You can contact us via the website, phone, e-mail, fax or write to us. Tell us the type of break you’re interested in, when you would like to go and what support needs you have. We will then find the perfect holiday for you and advise you of the costs. When you are ready to book we will send you, your carer or support professional the booking form with all other relevant information.
